At least 55 people in the United States have died after receiving a Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, according to reports submitted to a federal system.

The data came from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), a federal program that collects information regarding adverse effects that
occur after the administration of vaccines. VAERS is a passive system, which means that the program does not automatically collect reports; instead, affected individuals – patients, family members, physicians and other healthcare workers and providers – must file them.

According to VAERS’ own website, the reports submitted to the system represent only a small fraction of actual adverse events. However, underreporting is believed to be less common for serious events. This means that while only 55 people were reported to have died because of coronavirus vaccines, there are potentially dozens more out there suffering from adverse reactions.

The vaccine-related deaths occurred among people who received the Moderna
and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. According to VAERS, many of them died
within just a few days of being vaccinated.

Statistically that seems very low. Sounds like the vaccine is protecting people from normal causes of death.

A vaccine should never kill or cripple anyone.

And yet, medicine is not perfect.

The real question becomes which has the greater probability of causing significant harm or death: the disease, or the vaccine?

As long as the answer is "the disease", then any vaccine, however
potentially harmful or lethal, is still an improvement over not having a vaccine.

It's bizarre the number of people who will refuse a vaccine (measles,
mumps, etc), preferring to remain vulnerable to a disease that will
*kill* with greater frequency than the vaccine *injures*.

Apparently, when it comes to vaccines, the ability to count goes out the window.
