Why doesn't Excel have the same option of a closed file folder graphic for the toolbar as does Word & Publisher in Office 2003? Is there a way to import this graphic from one application to another so the word "Close" doesn't have to appear in the toolbar?

It sounds like you might have accidentally switched to "Full Screen" view in Excel, which removes the standard "Close" button and replaces it with a folder graphic. Here's how you can switch back to normal view.
