Suddenly "Calendar" appeared in my Mail Favorite Folder listing. I'm using Outlook 2003 on a small laptop and screen real estate is precious. I don't need this listing in the Favorites Folder. How can I get rid of it
Can you right-click it and choose "Remove from Favorite Folders"?

Thanks, Brian. But I'm a newbie and I don't know how to "start Outlook once with the /resetnavpane"--could you give me step by step instructions for doing that? I'm sorry to be so lame, and grateful for your help.
In Outlook's Help, look for "command line". The short verion is Start>Run>outlook.exe /resetnavpane. Be sure to include the space in front of
    the switch.
