Excel worksheet object shrinks when I paste it into Word

My company has recently switched from MS Office 10 to Office 365, and now when I try to paste an Excel worksheet object into Word it shrinks (collapses the horizontal axis, so if resized it is still the wrong shape/scale). If I double click to edit it
it resizes to a proper size, but then will go back to the shrinked size after I am done editing it. I can also still drag the horizontal axis of the object/picture to make it the proper scale, but I'd rather not have to take that extra step. Pasting
directly will work Ok, but I like to be able to edit as an Excel object if necessary.
