list numbering does NOT continue from previous table??????

OMG, thank you so much! I was going insane trying to get a list to continue from a doc into a pasted table with no luck (despite being able to successfully do it in several other docs just fine). These comments helped me figure out to just create a style
from the list I was trying to continue and then just select that style for the table and then, VOILA, it continued the list. :D
