• "How in the hell do I get quote marks to come up as I type them!

From Katy Chance@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jul 13 04:26:49 2022
Tried everything I can, language, smart quotes, etc.
It is simply impossible to work without the quote marks, single or double, not showing as I type them. Hitting spacebar every time is not sustainable.
    Please help.

I can't tell what you're saying. When you type the quotes key, nothing
happens at all? That seems unlikely.

Maybe you mean that when you type the quotes key, you get the
"straight quotes" instead of regular "curly quotes"?

The way to fix that is in the Word Options.

(I still use Word2007. Maybe these will look different if you have a
    newer version.)

Click the Office Button (upper left)
At the bottom of the panel that opens, click Word Options
In the list at the left of the panel that opens, click Proofing (3rd item)
At the top of the window that opens, click the button AutoCorrect Options
    Click the tab AutoFormat
In the second group ('replace"), check the first box, "straight quotes" with "smart quotes"

Click all the OK's to get out of the Word Options.
