• Linux firmware package?

From Alex McKeever@21:1/5 to All on Sun Sep 19 02:50:02 2021
I went to install Xserver-xorg-video-r128 and it recommended that I install the Linux firmware package, which doesn’t exist in the ports repository.

Any idea where I should look to get said package? It’s been a while since I last installed Debian ports.

Well, I'm sorry but that's just how things are. I don't have the super power to make all necessary changes in Debian myself.

You have a lot of super power on powerpc 😁

    If you want better support
for Debian Ports, raise your voice on the debian-devel mailing list.

Could we have a resume of all things that don't work because of Debian ?
So, we could each of us ask help about it on the debian-devel list.

You need to add contrib and non-free to your sources.list for arch=all:

    deb [arch=all] http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable contrib non-free

    See: https://people.debian.org/~glaubitz/sources.list

This is just a workaround. The proper fix is adding "contrib" and "non-free"
to the Debian Ports FTP mirror which is something that I cannot do myself but only the Debian Ports FTP admins.

None of the ISO I tested works at 100% on iMac G3 or in qemu.
