Hello again,Alpha installation since the hard drive was shutting down after a while of use -smartctl reported it to be OK, but it also reported way too many gigabytes processed during its lifetime. The machine is now running kernel 5.8.1.
Had to fix a few things with the DS15: a suspected failing power supply turned out to be the front panel power-on button's wires having a flimsy connection (probably due to front access storage cage removal/installation). Also had to clone my Debian
My only line on sources.list is;

I can't install vlc, kodi, cinnamon and several other packages.

As I posted last month, my old version of iceweasel was deleted by apt.
I downloaded the deb file for firefox 52.6 alpha, but when trying to install I get the following errors:
The graphics card is a Radeon HD7350 PCI, it uses a PLX PCI-PCIe bridge.
Makes me wonder if I can use a better card (like the short profile Radeon HD8570) mounted on a PCI-PCIe bridge adapter card,
that way the amdgpu driver could be used instead of the radeon driver.

I doubt if we ever will have firefox built on Alpha again. It now
depends on the rust compiler which depends on LLVM, which does not
support Alpha and it would be a major piece of work to implement.
