    I've just run two live installations in a VM here (amd64 xfce and
    amd64 non-free gnome, same as in the video) and things work. I think
    you've possibly been confused by the awful UI in grub for entering
    passphrases. Testing here a valid password does nothing visible for a
    few seconds, then works. An incorrect password also does nothing for a
    few seconds, then prints "error: access denied" etc.

    It would be much better if grub gave more useful feedback, but things
    *do* work here.
