I know some people will call me crazy, but can and should we combine

of April, also the bookworm d-i should™ be ready for release (kibi, I'm sure you'll comment on this if I got you wrong or if you want to provide

So, shall we add availability for May too? 6th, 13th, 20th (Ascension weekend), and 27th (coincides with DebianReunionHamburg)?

    Hi,

    Paul Gevers <elbrus@debian.org> (2023-03-16):
From where I'm looking, bookworm is looking pretty good. Obviously
we'll have to follow through on the flurry of unblock requests that
came in after the hard freeze, but that should be manageable in a
couple of weeks. kibi just told me on IRC that asking this question
now is not crazy from a d-i point of view.

Asking questions is never crazy. :)

That hopefully means that around the end of April, also the bookworm
d-i should™ be ready for release (kibi, I'm sure you'll comment on
this if I got you wrong or if you want to provide more details).

At this stage, I'd still like to have at least two releases out. The
first few weeks after the Alpha 2 release were awfully quiet
feedback-wise, that's much better now, and we've got a few fixes and improvements queued up. There's also a brand new set of shim* packages,
which should definitely end up in some release at some point.

Without having checked with Steve yet, I certainly expect us to be able
to publish at least a release in March and another before say mid-April…

So, shall we add availability for May too? 6th, 13th, 20th (Ascension weekend), and 27th (coincides with DebianReunionHamburg)?

… which should be all good for a tentative release in May, we would
still have time for a few extra tweaks with a final debian-installer
upload, should they be needed at that stage (rather than wait until
    12.1).

    Cheers,

13th could work. I'll admit I'm a little anxious about the amount of
work needed before release, but tbh that's not a new thing here... :-)

Press team is in some slight limbo at the moment, I hope to help fix

good idea not to block on them.

I'll be at the Debian Reunion Hamburg on the 27, so that feels like a
good day (albeit probably missing talks) to do the release if I were to
handle it without the experienced team members. We would still be
missing CD & press too for that day.

For the little bit I can do, I'm available to help in Hamburg. Also, if
anyone from the release team wants to the MiniDC in Hamburg, then Debian
    funds are available for that.

I'm aware this still needs much more input from me :-/ but as a quick

codenames and suite designations, so the moves of stable to oldstable

Can't really go to Hamburg as it collides with the openSUSE Conference for me

But should be avaible to test some ISOs at home next weekend for 11.7 and

    May: 20

    OK...

We have (if earlier mentioned dates still work for those involved):
    May | June
    kibi - 13, 20, 27 d-i
    mhy - 13, 20, 27 ftp
    Sledge - 13 CD
    Luna - 20 CD testing
    elbrus - 13 27, (3), 10, 24 release team

It seems a tiny bit late for 13 already, but still, would be awesome. What do >we think?

I'm still OK for the 13th.

If we have somebody from CD to do 27 (yes, I remember Sledge can't
do that one), that would be great as it would be my preference; I'll have >lots of Debian people physically around me. As the DPL mentioned, we might >not want to block on press availability, although it would be real great if >we had them.

Unfortunately, the other person on the images team who has the
knowledge to do a release (Andy) is also away - we're on the same
vacation! May 27 and June 3 are both out for that reason.

    properly earlier…

I share your feelings regarding the “tiny bit late” part but I suppose
that should be workable. (It feels a little weird to go from “we don't
have a date yet” to “pick the very first one, just 3 weeks away all of
    a sudden”, but…)

If we have somebody from CD to do 27 (yes, I remember Sledge can't
do that one), that would be great as it would be my preference; I'll
have lots of Debian people physically around me. As the DPL

vacation! May 27 and June 3 are both out for that reason.

We were thinking about the next d-i release before the end of April, so
maybe I'll know how to spin builds after that… which would put May 27 on
the table, which would feel a little less “tomorrow-ish” than May 13.

But again, if we go for May 13, I'll make that work…

    Cheers,

As mentioned previously, there'll need to be signatures from each of
the bookworm, bullseye and buster keys on the day.

Which leaves finding a date (and me learning what to do :) ).

We have (if earlier mentioned dates still work for those involved):
    May | June

    elbrus - 13 27, (3), 10, 24 release team

It seems a tiny bit late for 13 already, but still, would be
    awesome.

The 13th does seem a bit close now, without having announced. I could
do it if that's the decision, although I will be away the week before (returning home some time on the 12th). I'm afraid I don't really have
a feel for how "ready" things would be by then.

It looks like I could currently do any Saturday from May 13th onwards,
until the end of June. I have a slight preference for avoiding the
weekend of June 3rd if possible.

One other thing of note is that, unless I've missed some mail, there's
no press / publicity team member confirmed as available, which is
    really a requirement.

    Regards,

    Adam

So we're looking for a date in June. For June, starting with 10, we have:

Unsure if i can help with the 11.7 testing this weekend (don't really
have hardware to test on at the moment this week), but pretty sure i
can help out with the 12 testing in June :) and hopefully the 11.8
    testing later
