    Hello all,

has anyone tried kg-stv under Bullseye?

I am getting "Can not open play device device" and "Can not open record device".

So no audio in or out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Hi,

since that's afaict a windows binary blob, you should probably provide
more details on how you are trying to run it.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I assume you're trying to run this kg-stv program via WINE since the
best I can tell, it's only available for Windows. Looking at it a bit
deeper, this program is released from http://www.wells10000.plus.com/m5aml/kg-stv.htm and the last release was
v1.01 back in 2010. I would argue that anything run under WINE should
be a WINE forum discussion only since it's not a LInux application and
any incorrect function would need to be addressed by the WINE and/or
kg-stv application teams. Btw, since this program is 12 years old, one
needs to assume it's abandoned and there isn't much point in trying to
    get things fixed.

You might consider using actively maintained SSTV software like Qsstv
which is a native LInux application:

I agree but since I have looked at all WINE forums and tried everything I found considering sound in WINE, I thought maybe is something debian specific issue. Maybe a package dependency??? Or something else.

I totally agree with you but ARISS decided to use this software for an experiment on February 20 and I thought maybe I would try it.

It's also being used on QO-100 from time to time.

Maybe we should be lobbying ARISS to use free modes only, that fits
    hamradio much better anyway.

I TRIED to get WL2K running under wine. Miserable experience. You
cannot attach sound devices directly under wine.

I did manage to get WL2K running with CodeWeavers but again, couldn't
attach devices directly. I did get it running but wow, glad the folks
are building pat for WL2K for linux--much nicer to have control over my rig.

All I can suggest is digging into the google links and see if you might
    find something helpful.

KG-STV is free but there is no source code. I have found some info on the net that KG-STV works under WINE but no info on WINE version and config.

    Anyway thank you all.

Due to requirement to use VARA for several net exercises :(

Looks like work is happening to support VARA with PATio and that will be
a much easier way for me to deal with it.
