• Debian Hams get together @ Debconf

From Dave Hibberd@21:1/5 to All on Mon Aug 16 22:30:01 2021
    Hi friends,

Debconf[1] is coming soon, and it would be nice to catch up with you all & put some names to faces!

Shall we try and carve out half an hour or so to meet on Jitsi, drink some wine/beer/tea/water/etc & talk radios during the week?

I assume we're mostly mixed across EU and US timezones - I'd propose 1900UTC or so towards the end of the week.
    Does anyone have any suggestions/preferences?

    Cheers,
    Hibby

    Hi,

    that is an excellent idea!

My only constraint would be that it's not in parallel to the tech-ctte
    talk, but that's on Wednesday.

We should probably try to organize a BoF for that so it's on the
    schedule. Does that sound right?

I figured you'd want the tech-ctte session left clear!

I thought about going down the BoF route, but as the CFP is closed I wasn't sure if we could get one arranged!

I think we'll be in the "Late submissions are possible and will be considered on a case by case basis." category at this point! I'll drop into the relevant irc channel tomorrow and ask nicely if I find time.

    Cheers,
    DH

BoFs can be setup up even when Debconf is already running I think, so
    we aren't even late.

I would really like to join this virtual event, but Wednesday
isn't good for me. I prefer the weekend, or Friday.

    Hi all,

I submitted to debconf this afternoon and requested Friday night @ 2000 UTC where there’s an existing schedule gap.

Content team seemed quite happy to accommodate, I’ll update when I get more information through.

As a follow on to this, we've been scheduled for 20:00 on Friday night of Debconf:

Set a reminder, I'll be in touch further in the week with more information I should imagine!

may be it's an unnecessary question, but the 20:00 is still in
    UTC, yes?

it was necessary for me at least! And yes, it's UTC.

In this page, times are shown both as UTC and as local time: https://debconf21.debconf.org/schedule/
