• CD vs DVD instalation of Debian XFCE

From Mate Ti@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 24 10:30:01 2021
Hi, my problem is, when i install debian from CD-ROM file (650 MB)
which is XFCE edition, the system start with an annoying noise coming
from the laptop speakers. This terrible noise sounds like some
kind of switch and is also activated at the shutdown of the system. When
i install the DVD-ROM (3.7 GB) XFCE edition, there is no noise at start
or shutdown of the system. There is no noise after netinstal version
also. I would figure out, how this noise could be eliminated after the
CD-ROM version instalation, which i prefer for future becouse of
download size. Maybe it could fix with some packege instaled, what i
dont know. Have somebody any idea? Thanks. Tib

    Hi Tib,

I once had the same problem with the annoying beep on every start and
shutdown. What worked for me was to disable the PC speaker entirely by blacklisting its driver. I did this by placing a .conf file with content 'blacklist pcspkr' into '/etc/modprobe.d/'

    Cheers,
    Henning
