• Broken diff output in DDTSS

From Daniele Forsi@21:1/5 to All on Tue Aug 24 22:30:01 2021
    Hello,

what is the right place to report a bug in the DDTSS interface?

The bug is that the diff output in the translation pages do not
correspond to the actual changes, it seems that the old package
description in the database contains only the first line, so the diff
is showing the whole long description as added lines.
For example, the page https://ddtp.debian.org/ddtss/index.cgi/it/forreview/netconfd includes
    the output of https://ddtp.debian.org/ddt.cgi?diff1=262691&diff2=284689&language=it
I think that only the title changed, anyway the old description is
missing from the output, this is the diff shown today:

    diff from 262691 and 284689

    Description: NETCONF (RFC-6241) agent

    Description: NETCONF (RFC6241) agent

for the exchange of management information between agents (servers)
    and clients.
    .
The yuma123 agent is a daemon which listens for incoming NETCONF
requests from clients and provides responses.

Hi,I suspect the root cause is the xz compression by default now.DDTP doesn't handle .xz compressed files but only .bz2 ones.
    ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/i18n/
    Kind Regards

    Hi,

I suspect the root cause is the xz compression by default now.
DDTP doesn't handle .xz compressed files but only .bz2 ones.

    ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/i18n/

I think you are right and this seems the script that handles the
    decompression from bz2 https://salsa.debian.org/l10n-team/ddtp/-/blob/master/Packages2db.sh

    I created this issue https://salsa.debian.org/tvincent/ddtp/-/issues/16

    thank you for your insight

Thank you both for your help.
I will try to have a look at this issue next week-end.

There is also the problem of dak not being happy with our translations
since the Bullseye release. It may be related to this bz2 to xz move.

    Kind regards,
    Thomas

    Quick status update:

As usual, it took me a longer than expected to have something working.

It looks like the xz files are now downloaded and handled correctly, but
I am still not sure everything works fine.

You may have noticed that the « Arf Arf » messages stopped today. I had
to run a script manually for that and I think we will receive more « Arf
Arf » tomorrow. Something in the daily update script still doesn't work
and I'm struggling to find out what it is, because everything runs fine
    in my VM.

Speaking about VM, I am also preparing a Vagrantfile so that anyone can
quickly set up and hack their own DDTSS instance. Let me know if you're interested in testing it and I'll publish it ASAP.

    Kind regards,
    Thomas
