From Aurelien Jarno@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jan 25 11:00:01 2020
    Hi MIPS porters,

Martin Quinson has issues to get ns3 built on mipsel (see below). We
discussed that briefly on #debian-buildd and a rebuild doesn't help as
the issue is actually the 2GB virtual address space limit, which is not
    enough for as.

Martin already tried on the porterbox to use the
-Wl,--reduce-memory-overheads and -Wl,--no-keep-memory options, but it
    doesn't help.

Can someone please have a look at the issue and provide him with a
    patch?

    Thanks,
    Aurelien

    Hello,

The last build of my package ran out of memory on mipsel, and I'd like
to give it another try, please. The thing is that this upload fixes 2
RC bugs that justify the removal of my package.

    https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=ns3

Please tell me if such an email is not the most convinient for you. I
was wondering whether I should upload a new version of the package (I
do have some small cleanups waiting) to trigger the rebuild, but that
would reset the delay for migrating to testing (and cancel the ongoing removal).

    Thanks for your helpful work,
    Mt.

    Hello,

My current attempt to reduce the memory consumption is in the git on
    salsa: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/ns3/

In addition to the two flags that Aurelien advised, I removed the -g
flags to kill the debug symbols. But that's still not sufficient
    (tested on the porterbox).

I'd like to add that ns3 has two stupid RC bugs related to python2
that are fixed with this upload. I have tested all the ideas that I
had, and I'm really hopping that you'll find a solution to help me.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mt

You have a problem and decide to use git.
Now you have a forest of subtly incompatible solutions.
