  • [Debian-Bullseye] Errori segnalati dal journalctl: devo prepccuparmi?

    Un cordiale saluto a tutta la lista.
    Da alcuni mesi leggo nel journalctl segnalazioni di 'Warnings' e di
    'Failure' relativi al disco fisso di cui non riesco a valutare la gravità,
    ma temo che o il disco o il mio PC possano lasciarmi improvvisamente.
    Potreste cortesemente dirmi cosa succede?

    Controllla lo stato del o dei dischi . Se non erro ( vado a memoria perchè sono fuori casa e non ho il pc sottomano) ci sono tool appositi. Cerca smarttool e gnome-disk o smart disk. Fagli fare una scansione completa e
    valuta i risultati. Se ci sono settori danneggiati oltre un limite "fisiologico" opterei per un backup dell'intero disco in vista della sostituzione.

    Ciao Ennio, ti consiglio anzitutto di fare backup frequenti e di
    installare il pacchetto smartmontools per andare a leggere i dati smart memorizzati sull'hd (smartctl -A); puoi anche provare un self test
    (smartctl -t).

    Altrimenti puoi guardare di che marca è il tuo hard disk e scaricare i
    tools appositi cercando sul sito del produttore.

    Quio potrebbe essere o un errore di rete, o problemi di accesso al disco
    per il file dei nameserver, per cui non riuscendo a leggerlo, non ti
    trasla i nomi in ip e ti da il Temporary failure resolving
    'ftp.us.debian.org.

    Mi ripeto, se hai dati importanti, fai *urgentemente il backup* e
    sostituisci il disco.

    Se ti può consolare, ho un hdd da 1TB che sta nella stessa identica situazione, se non peggiore, e per di più li sopra ho la /home.
    Solo che finché a me non schiatta rimane la. Ho in parallelo un altro
    hdd da 2TB su cui ogni ora faccio l'rsync della home perché ho fatto la cavolata di prendere il 2TB in tecnologia SMR, quando non sapevo nemmeno

    da quel che ho capito io quell'errore invece indica che c'è un problema software e non hardware. Quindi il tuo disco, a livello hardware, non
    ha problemi.

    Quello che viene consigliato in questi casi è di vedere se esiste un
    upgrade del firmware.

    Se non erro valori bassi possono essere trascurati.

    Mi scuso del ritardo - dovuto al completo esaurimento dello spazio vitale
    nella mia /home che mi ha assorbito nella ricerca di una soluzione e mi ha 'isolato dal mondo' per diversi giorni - e vorrei ringraziare tutti voi
    per i suggerimenti e le iformazioni datemi.

    Ho anch'io un disco esterno per il salvataggio quotidiano dei file più importanti (/home e /etc), ma sto cercando i suggerimenti visti molti anni
    fa per le altre directory che è opportuno salvare. [Se qualcuno avesse
    questa informazione a portata di mano e me la comunicasse non mi dispiacerebbe].

    Alcuni dei 'warnings' consigliano di scaricare un aggiornamento al
    firmware. Ho provato a seguire questa via, ma il software relativo si
    riferisce solo a sistemi Micro$oft oppure Mac. Pensate che posso
    utilizzare quest'ultimo o devo chiedere alla casa costruttrice dell'hard
    disk?

    dipende da cosa vuoi ottenere con quello che ti salvi e dove salvi i tuoi

    di sicuro /etc può contenere eventuali configurazioni personalizzate e /home/$TuoUtente contiene configurazioni e possibili dati personali... ma

    questi warning ti dicono solo che il firmware è "vecchio" e potrebbe

    Tempo fa avevo indicato che con gnome veniva installato obbligatoriamente
    un pacchetto che cercava, più volte al giorno, aggiornamenti del firmware
    dei dispositivi e faceva l'installazione in automatico... avevo criticato questa scelta e poi il pacchetto è stato messo come facoltativo e l'ho rimosso.

    Ho provato a seguire questa via, ma il software relativo si
    riferisce solo a sistemi Micro$oft oppure Mac.

    ma quindi per i tuoi dispositivi (es: HD) esiste un firmware più aggiornato
    di quello che hai installato?
