• Application Dashboard Widget always opens on the same screen

    From Jon Hreg@21:1/5 to All on Sat Oct 30 14:00:02 2021
    Hi,

    since the update to plasma-desktop amd64 4:5.23.0-3, the Applications
    dashboard no longer opens on the respective screen, but always on one
    and the same screen. (exactly the same misbehavior was observed after
    the mentioned update on two different machines running Debian/SID/KDE)

    * Debian SID,
    * KDE, multi-monitor setup
    * for each screen there is a separate panel
    * each of these panels has its own applications dashboard widget

    Previously, the Applications dashboard was opened on exactly the screen
    to which the panel/widget belonged.

    Setting the screen via Alt+F3 / Special Window Settings did not work -
    probably the identification of the window was insufficient, because
    the direct Alt+F3 / "Move to Screen" menu entry worked, but this change
    is of course not persistent.

    Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
    It's more annoying than you think at first ...
    Thanks a lot.

    Typo? 0-2 is the latest I see in Debian.

    Given the version # and problems you cite, you seem to be using testing.
    Kwin (for one) is on hold, waiting for Mesa. Currently, upgrading may
    (will?) result in breakage of Plasma. It's probably best to wait for
    the full KDE/Plasma suite to migrate to testing.

    Alternatively, you /could/ downgrade to v5.21.* Be advised though, that downgrading isn't officially supported in Debian so if you attempt to
    downgrade and things break even more, you get to keep all the parts.

    Hello to the round.

    I hadn't found a workaround yet, and had switched to the classic
    Applications menu in the meantime.

    Today's update to plasma-desktop 4:5.23.2.1-1 has fixed this bug, great!
    Many thanks to all those who were involved.
