After 23 years of marriage and seven children, a transgender
woman is taking a chance on living her truth — however
controversial it might seem.
Stefonknee Wolscht began her transition six years ago at age 46
and now she is living as a 6-year-old girl.
"Stop being trans wasn't something I could do; that's like
telling me to stop being 6-foot-2 or leave,” Wolscht said of her
wife's ultimatum in a clip.
Wolscht is the subject of a social video series called "The
Transgender Project," which profiles transgender people in
Canada.
The documentary works to highlight everything about Wolscht’s
life, including the pain of being rejected by her family.
“I can’t deny I was married,” she said in an interview with
Daily Xtra. “I can’t deny I have children, but I don’t want to
be an adult right now.”
Now Wolscht, who used to hide her true identity by cross-
dressing, is living with a new adoptive family.
"I have a mommy and daddy, an adopted mommy and daddy, who are
totally comfortable with me being a little girl," she said.
Wolscht said she colors and does kid stuff with her new family,
which includes her new 7-year-old sister.
