    This is not news to you all, but is to me. I was somewhat startled to read this on page 8 in the Nov. 27, 1937 Magazine "Radio Guide":
    "An idea of how much literary material exists about music may be gained when we check up on just one composer--Wagner. More books have been written about Christ, Napoleon, and Wagner than any other subject since history began." -Leonard Liebling

    More than any other subject!

    But Google search told me that Barry Millington said this was a just a folk myth in "The Wagner Compendium: A Guide to Wagner’s Life and Music (1992)". Apparently he does not say how such an idea got started.

    Would be a cool statistic if true. But I would guess there are more books about solving crimes, regency romance, Star Trek, and maybe even J.R.R. Tolkien than the subject of Richard Wagner.
