So, does this configuration work elsewhere?
What do you see when you put a break-out box between the terminal and the scanner? Between the scanner and the host?

Is data passing through but not handshaking?
The break-out box will tell you.

Temp workaround: just yell out, "Price check on terminal 3!!!"
