    Hello,

    I'm trying to disassemble/repair/replace a LK201 keyboard. Does anyone
know how to pry loose the 8051 PCB from the keyboard matrix board? Is
seems there's some kind of clamp holding it roughly in the middle.

Lars Brinkhoff <lars.spam@nocrew.org> spake the secret code <7w7e46qz6e.fsf@junk.nocrew.org> thusly:

Have you looked at the relevant VT220 maintenance documentation? <http://manx-docs.org/search.php?cp=1&q=vt220&on=on>

Yes, I think I have read it all. There are detailed instructions for
the terminal itself, but about a damaged LK201 they just say "replace
    the whole keyboard".

Which is why I have about a dozen on my shelf, so sitting at my terminal
I'm sort of like Angus Young in front of his Marshall stacks. :-)

The docs aren't useful because I don't think you're supposed to take the keyboard apart. I suspect that where you are at now might be a point where desoldering keyswitches becomes essential.

What are you wanting to replace that requires complete disassembly?

I am very pleased to see a Cherry encoder in there, though.

I did finally pry it off by bending gently with a flat screwdriver.

I'm considering replacing the 8051 PCB and put another board in there
with some updates. For example, I dearly want a Meta key. Someone
pointed out it might be easier to just replace the 8051; that may also
    be an option.

I also need to check out the keyboard matrix. Some keys seem dead and
    other trigger two keypresses.
