  • ITUGLIB Update: OpenSSL 1.1.1m and 3.0.1

    Hi Everyone,

    The OpenSSL 1.1.1m and OpenSSL 3.0.1 releases for HPE NonStop J-Series and L-Series are now available on the ITUGLIB website at https://ituglib.connect-community.org/apps/Ituglib/SrchOpenSrcLib.xhtm.

    These contain all standard threaded (SPT, PUT) and unthreaded packages. Make sure to download the correct one. There are many packages, so make sure you select the correct one.

    The prior message described the contents of this release. Change notes are available at https://www.openssl.org/news/changelog.html.

    Source is only provided by ITUGLIB for 1.1.1m as 3.0.1 is available for download from the official OpenSSL tarball or GitHub site. Note that source is also available from the ITUGLIB GitHub site at https://github.com/ituglib/openssl on the ituglib_
    release branch and OpenSSL_1_1_1m_ITUGLIB tag. We may start only shipping 1.1.1m via GitHub in future.

    Please be aware that the version numbering for the 3.0.x series has changed to be more like industry standards. 3.0.1 is a fix release to 3.0.0 and has a compatible API and signatures. 1.1.1m is a fix release to 1.1.1l or earlier.

    If it helps, we found that the 64-bit OpenSSL 3.0.1 does not run on all J-series systems. You might want to try the 32-bit build. SPT is always 32-bit. If you need a different build, please let us know.

    Some good news. I tracked down the SIGSEGV bug in 3.1. We are now build/test correctly for the next major release. Isn't it time to upgrade to 3.0.x already? We know you want to. And you should be able to use 3.0.x as a client to 1.0.2 servers if your
    Linux boxes or other servers are stuck on older releases. There is wire-level compatibility as long as you use the same set of cyphers. So get it with and upgrade!

    Please ignore my comment about the 64-bit build on J-series. It works just fine. It's actually pretty peppy, being 64-bit. So, all builds are correct and working fine.

    It was an ID 10T operator error on my part.
