On my laptop running Lion, I see a lot of certificates have expired. How
    do you update them?

    Thanks
    Lyndon

Update to a new version of macOS; Lion does not support current
encryption standards and even if you could update the certs you would
    still be out of luck.

The company or vendor has to create a new cert once the old one expires. If they don't, then, you're out of luck.
