On 30/05/2023 12:56, David Brooks asked for advice!

"I only use network access to download malware. Once I've got what I
need, I shut the VM down, then start it up with networking disabled.
    Howard"

Perhaps someone on the ACW group will know what he means!

    *WHICH* malware?

Malware he chooses to examine and test, as stated in one of his
    comments.

    Is this *Mac* malware?

Most likely, since that's his interest.

Where would YOU go looking to find Mac malware?

Objective-See keeps a Mac malware collection as I think you know.

    Indeed.

I'm confident that he once told me that a Mac isn't susceptible to
    malware.

No OS can protect the user against social engineering.

    Agreed.

What if one of his 'samples' got itself entangled with one of
Howard's 'FREE' tools? Would the user of said computer ever notice?!!

Not gonna happen in an isolated VM.

    Phew! That's alright then.

Who would check? ........ and *HOW*?

All AV companies that check for Mac malware.

Mac users are, in general, told NOT to install anti-malware on their
computers so anything let slip by Howard Oakley would go *undetected*!

I've removed ALL of his tools from MY iMac!

Now you know that there *IS* Mac malware *live* out there - will you
start using an anti-malware software program to protect your MacBook Pro?

Do you use ANY of Howard's free tools?

How do you think they get there? By osmosis?

Even if they reside in the file-system without being activated they are
    no immediate danger.
