Now I need to figure out my temptation level...

Plenty of us noticed. Did you notice the new HomePods?

Odd there were no postings here - of all places.

I did notice the Homepods, but:

    1) This is a mac.system NG, and IAC

    2) not interested in the HomePod much. My home theatre has a (very)
nice 6.1 setup as it is and we like the rest of the house to be quiet, generally.

I don't find it odd. This isn't an advocacy group, no matter how hard
the resident trolls wish it would be.

    Merits discussion.

The "Pro" version is quite good per my perusing and has two CPU options
    - one with 12 cores, 19 GPUs and NE's. Put in 32 GB of ram and it's a
power house. Not cheap, mind. With 2 TB of store it's $3,821 tax in
here. (CAD bucks). To be sure Apple memory options are very expensive
    (whether RAM or SSD).

I could see getting 10 years out of that.

I'll still wait to see where the iMac goes this year before deciding.
This iMac is an 11 year old i7 quad/HT model coming up on 10 years in
hand... still strong, but showing its age for some tasks.
