    I agree.

I remember when Microsoft was called “the world’s largest software company”.

Clearly, that title now belongs to Apple.

Apple has way more software running on way more hardware than MS ever did.

More, but way more? Apple claims (as of 1/21) 1.65 billion, Microsoft 1.4 billion (1/22).

With only 17% share of the phone market, Apple is still far behind Android based on total devices.

The Windows PC market is shrinking. It had been shrinking for 11 years.
Then Covid came along and lots of people had to buy a PC to work from home.
So there was very temporary rise in PC sales. It is now shrinking again.

The phone market is not shrinking. BTW, Mac shipments actually grew in the last quarter while overall Windows PC shipments dropped by 20%.

With only 17% share of the phone market, Apple is still far behind
    Android based on total devices.

In the U.S. it is 55% Apple.

But none of that even matters. There is more Apple software running on
more Apple computers than any other single company. Android has more
users, but they also have 100 companies selling the hardware and software.

Macs, iPhones, iPads, watches, headphones. All running Apple-written Operating Systems and apps.

Apple is now The World’s Largest Software Company.

Larger than Google's Android OS? Not.

That's about a billion more than Apple or Microsoft.
