more than slightly and for android itself, but there's still a lot of
fragmentation and it's still up to device manufacturers to offer an
update. the pixel series has an advantage of not involving a third
    party.

Right. The situation is still untenable and that is exactly the reason
why I would only buy Pixel-devices. That is exactly what I did.
I bought the Pixel 4 with Android 11 on it. Stands now at 13.

If I can reach at least 15 we come close to what Apple delivers.

*No operating system has a _shorter_ update lifespan - than does iOS*

I'm not even going to explain to Joerg Lorenz that iOS has the _shortest_ update of _all_ common consumer operating systems, bar none, and by far.

Because Joerg Lorenz is literally, stupid. Too stupid to understand.
While nospam is also stupid - he actually knows I'm saying the facts below.

What both nospam and Joerg don't comprehend is that iOS updates _differently_ than _all_ other common consumer operating systems.

It lasts far less than most - but that's not the real problem.
The real problem is Apple leaves you cold and dry when iOS dies.

    *When iOS dies... everything dies...*
    a. You don't get more OS updates
    b. You don't get more security updates (except in rare cases)
    c. You don't get more key application updates (like Safari & Messages)

Almost all of Android _never_ dies.
    a. Most of Android updates over Google Play now
    b. That's completely independent of the "ecosystem"
    c. The app updates are essentially forever (e.g., Chrome & Messages)

Even then, Android is almost all open source code.
As are many (most even) of the key apps (depending on what apps you use).

By way of stark contrast - *iOS just dies*
    *poof*
    *gone*

The fact remains a fact that there is no common consumer operating system that last _less_ than does iOS when you look at it from cradle to grave.

It's no longer shocking the only thing these iKooks know about Android
is what they read in an Apple advertisement a decade or more ago.

Wow, so how did my wife’s mom’s 9 year old iPad 3 last until last November. It was still working fine, and on the original battery, when an app update came out and she couldn’t access the public library collection because that update did not
    include her model.
