Hmmm, seems that some M1 Macs have a heat issue

M2 and his credibility is shot right of the bat as he tries to suggest
the computer he got isn't new.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1dokf-e1Ok

So? Doing high end video work maxxed out the machine.

Did he compare it against anything else? No.

Oh, and he exaggerates and claims it happened in "not even a minute. It
was just a half minute" when it actually took a little longer than a minute.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2MOjrLFpwQ

This is a video where a MacBook Air where all that is shown is that
computer CPUs will be throttle back for thermal reasons.

This is true of EVERY COMPUTER, Liarboy.

The very machine that I'm using today had a problem (after nearly 7
years of ownership, mind) where the thermal pasted between the CPU and
the heatsink had degraded to the point that the machine would turn
itself off after only a few minutes of operation.

After I opened the machine up and refreshed that thermal paste, it is
    once again operating great.

Oh, and after going to all that trouble, what was gained?

    1.16% faster single core performance
    1.56% faster multi-core performance.
    1.73% faster GPU performance

In short, there wasn't a thermal problem at all.

Seriously: what is your need to denigrate things so very much?

You went out looking for videos to slam the new Macs. Why?

Both use the M1. The Air has no fan, so only persistent load performance

So right out of the gate, your source is an IDIOT who doesn't understand

Not all laptops throttle down from thermal buildup.

All of Intel CPUs throttle down from thermal buildup, and have been designed this way for several years. The alternative is that they melt down and fail.

Gosh, I read that quite differently: I saw it as recognizing that the trade-off of the Air
being silent and small/light was that it didn't push air through its body, such that CPU
thermal limits are hit sooner under heavier load. That observation doesn't make it
useless for all activities - it just is integral to the trade-off for which product to choose
for one's workflow tasks vs other considerations. To use an analogy, you're trying to
criticize a Mini Cooper for not having the cargo capacity of a 2500 Pickup, rather than
recognizing that it is comparatively much easier to park and gets great gas mileage.

On the contrary: all of my Intel-based laptops all buzz their fans constantly, even at idle.
That's acoustically annoying, plus it is annoying that a laptop is compelled to run its fans
even when at idle and low "not pushing the hardware" demand (Outlook, MS-Teams, Excel)
because that air mass forced induction must consume battery power, which reduces runtime.

How loudly do its cooling fans scream? And suck down battery?
Not all laptops throttle down from thermal buildup.
All of Intel CPUs throttle down from thermal buildup, and have been designed >> this way for several years. The alternative is that they melt down and fail. >>> You just said so yourself above. The fact that Apple CHOSE not to put in a fan
and that design results in so much heat it throttles makes it an issue with Apple's
stupid form over function design decisions.

My HP fans do run. So do my Dell XPS 15 with the I9 Core. Glad to know that it's not a real issue, even in Macs.

Hilarious that you're pontificating on this stuff and you had no idea
that CPUs are almost always thermally limited.
