• printing from !Draw

From Chris Newman@21:1/5 to All on Mon Sep 26 16:31:50 2022
    Hi,

    Raspberry Pi4 RISC OS 5.28
Samsung CLP 680ND colour laser printer

Sometimes, when I print from a !Draw file, I get part of the printout
down the left hand side of the page and the remaining 3/5 ths on the
    right pure black.

    Anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

    OK.

Have you checked the image you are trying to print is within the Print
borders in !Draw and set to A4 ? If not some odd things can happen.

I strongly recommend doing all printing of Draw files (including via PDF3) using Hilary Phillips' excellent free app DrawPrint from http://sinenomine.co.uk/software/#DrawPrint.

It gives a great deal of control over the size and page coverage of the
    Draw file in question.

I've just tried to print a page from OvationPro contining images obtained
using my trusty Epson GT 6500 scanner.

PostScript 3 printer driver 1.21 (01-Jun-12) from Martin Weurthner to my Samsung laser

If I use the Sprite files I'm still getting the mass of black effect. If

From whence cometh !Printers 1.90 as mentioned above? Is it worth my

disappear over the horizon as PlusNet closes its mail service.

Printers 1.90 is from the latest HardDisc4 image or the way i got it is
    via Packman.

You need to add IIRC the following URL to the packman sources: http://packages.riscosopen.org/packages/pkg/rool

This then gives access to all the individual updated ROOL programs that
are provided in the HardDisc4 image.

    Hi Chris

Printers 1.90 is from the latest HardDisc4 image or the way i got

This could be a useful way of getting access to the HardDisc4 image
but I'm not clear how to access individual programs.

You need to add IIRC the following URL to the packman sources: http://packages.riscosopen.org/packages/pkg/rool

This is the easy part - open !PackMan and open Resources. Load Sources
textfile into a text editor program. Scroll down until you see the
above link. Remove the # that proceeds it. Save the changes. Reload
    !PackMan. Done

This then gives access to all the individual updated ROOL programs
that are provided in the HardDisc4 image.

Where do I find Printers 1.90?

Actually the proper way to add the above URL is via the packman icon bar
menu > Advanced > Sources and then click on 'Add' and copy/paste the URL
    in and then OK.

This then gives access to all the individual updated ROOL programs
that are provided in the HardDisc4 image.

Where do I find Printers 1.90?

You need to refresh your list! Icon bar icon > Update Lists should do it
or restart Packman I think that does it as well.

Then scroll down or use the section button to select Printing (all
programs connected with Printing appear to then be shown).

Well, that explains why editing !PackMan.Resources.Sources didn't have
    any detectable effect!

Now, is it possible to uset this to update the bugged DragAnObject

You'll notice I have a new e-address as the waitrose one will soon
disappear over the horizon as PlusNet closes its mail service.

When did they say it will close?

I hope that is just waitrose email addresses not plus.net email addresses. I've had no notification of that closing but I suspect it is only a matter
    of time.

John Lewis broadband which is provided via PlusNet has decided to close
down it's broadband services and not accepting any new customers. They had @waitrose.com email addresses. As the JLB customers contract comes to an
end they will be advised to move their email elsewhere.

PlusNet are also no longer providing new customers with an email account anymore. Existing customers at the moment still have email, but it has
been broadly hinted by PlusNet staff that email is to be phased out
sometime in 2023, this will include those with Force9 email addresses and
other ones they brought out years ago.

Also if you are an existing PlusNet customer and leave them you will
likely lose your email address and can't keep it as a free one anymore afterwards which you could do up to I think it was March 2022.

Plus as on November 2022 PlusNet are also no longer accepting new Business broadband customers, so it the beginning of the end for that as well.

BT Group owners of PlusNet are re-organising their three main broadband services.

EE broadband will become their main consumer broadband provider.
BT will gradually move to dealing with Businesses and certain other
    limited services.

PlusNet - low cost provider (maybe - it's unknown at the moment)

CJE Micro's probably needs to start looking at moving to a proper hosting company and not rely on an ISP hosting service, sooner rather then later
    to be honest.
