    Hello,

Does any one know if it is possible to run riscos headless on a
raspberry pi using a VNC viewer such as that built into MacOS X? I am thinking of moving to an M1 mac, so I expect VirtualRPC will no longer
run and is unlikely to be upgraded.

There is a RISC OS VNC server available from:

    http://www.phlamethrower.co.uk/

Running headless can be auto-detected using:

    | To determine if running headless by detecting absence of EDID file.
    | The "Obey" with no parameters terminates the script at this point.
    IfThere Resources:$.Resources.ScreenMode.Monitors.EDID* Then Obey
    | Commands from here onwards will only be implemented if "headless".
    | Eg, vnc_serv, set a specific screenmode/colour depth, mount a share etc.

This facilitates set-up using a real keyboard/mouse/monitor when present.

    Hope this helps,

    John

It's certainly possible, although it really needs to be a Pi 4 for a
good experience, it will work with lesser Pis but the redraw rate is
    painful.

I would recommend an overclocked Pi4 from Risc Os bits, running at 2.1G

Thanks to all for the info, you have given me a clear route to doing
    what I asked.

The M1 MacBook Air's built in Screen Sharing app does work with vncserver
    0.22 running on a Titanium and RPi4.

    http://www.phlamethrower.co.uk/riscos/vnc_serv.php

The 32bit VirtualRPC is not going anywhere on modern 64bit only Macs.

RPCEmu 0.9.3b interpreter does work on the M1.
