• Pinning remote directories/files

    From Chris Evans (CJE/4D)@21:1/5 to All on Wed Oct 28 15:06:45 2020
    A lot of the pins of directories/files on my backdrop are on other RISC OS computers on our network. We use another RISC OS computer as a FileServer.

    It's been suggested this is a very unusual thing to do.

    Anyone else out there have pins on remote machines?

    Yes, both on another RISC OS machine and files and folders on a NAS via Sunfish.

    The pinboard file is also on the pinboard (!) as it has to be run again
    before all these remote objects show up; I have always assumed the
    pinboard's place in the boot sequence is too early to pick up Sunfish
    shares.

    I also have the pinboard pinned for easy editing but not normally running,
    to get round remote objects not being present I pin an obey file of:

    If "<LanMan98$Dir>" = "" THEN run Share::FS.$.Apps.!LanMan98
    CONNECT98 L2 DESKTOP-DF67Q6D Desktop Chris
    Pin LanMan98::L2.$.Scrap/txt 3188 1836

    The pin of scrap/txt is set to be just under the above obey file
