• RISC PC AEH60 Econet - hardware mod to use as a server

    Hi,

Some years ago Acorn released the AEH60 -- an Econet card for the RISC PC which plugged into the network interface port.

They work great as Econet clients, but if you try to run Level 4 Server or Advanced Level 4, it doesn't work. Directory listings and saving from clients to the RISC PC works fine, but reading files on the RISC PC from a client results in "not responding"
    or "no reply" errors.

The same thing happens with other servers, e.g. awServer. Same exact symptoms.

According to an old post on here, a hardware modification is required to make these cards work in a server.

Does anyone know the details of this hardware mod?

If anyone has photos of a modified card (or can take some), I'd love to see them. I may be able to work out what was changed from them.

I understand Carl Elkins was handling returns and mods for these cards at Acorn, so if anyone knows him (or anyone else at Acorn who may know) I'd appreciate it if you could forward this message along.
I've been able to find his Github but there's no Email address on it...

    Cheers
    Phil
