Is it a temporary problem, or are the emails still waiting to be sent?

I assume you are using Hermes as your transport.

When did these problems start? PLusnet had a lot of problems with
email, both sending and fetching two to three weeks ago, lasting over
a week. However, these problems are supposed to be fixed now. I have
had no problems this past week or so.

What are the settings for the mail servers? For fetching mail you use mail.plus.net. For sending you should be using relay.plus.net. You do
not need any authentication at the moment.

Yes Martin, I did hear that plusnet had problems and it covered the
period when I was having problems but my problems continue so it may
    not be connected.
Since it seems I can send news items but not mail it may be my mail
settings in Netfetch, What should they be?
    In Netfetch's error log it says 'failed to connect to mail.plus.net;
at other times 'invalid command'. On the last attempt to send it says '(organiser@blueyonder.co.uk) invalid address. And the following
attempt ' Error: Disconnecting from relay.plus.net.

I cannot understand the blueyonder reference??

yes logging can be increased to Detailed.

Open Netfetch choices > Account > Advanced button beside the Main SMTP
mail send server window (which should have relay.plus.net in it) after
clicking on the Advanced button a User/Password window will open this
should have your plusNet login user name and password. Click on Detailed
this opens the Hermes Accounts Window - now double click on the one you
    are using.

This opens your account window. Ensure you have the correct details in the fields - server should be relay.plus.net

There is a mail logs button on the right of this window, click on that an
the mail logs window opens click on detailed and then click on CHANGE to
save the change. Close all the other windows down and try resending.

If it still fails to send then the log file with have lots more info, let
us know what it says, it tell you exactly where it is failing.

My guess would be either the password or the wrong ports being used

No idea I am afraid - never used it, but I believe the transport is
    Hermes?

In Netfetch's error log it says 'failed to connect to
mail.plus.net; at other times 'invalid command'.

Those messages seem user type messages - there will be some actual
codes for the particular failure somewhere, I would hope. Perhaps in
    Syslog?

On the last attempt to send it says '(organiser@blueyonder.co.uk)
invalid address. And the following attempt ' Error: Disconnecting

Nor me. I have just send an email from Pluto using AtiSpam via Plusnet
to that very address with no problems.

It is consistent with that address - or all blueyonder addresses?

If I can help with your Organizer query, please email me (address in

Here is a guide to what mine are.

    Netfetch Iconbar menu-choices
Select Account: In 'main SMTP server' enter relay.plus.net.
Now select Advanced. In the new window select the outgoing server -
you will probably have only one, named e.g. Send 1. Then click Edit.
In the new window, select Account radio button (probably already
selected). The default account name will be shown, this can be
changed if you wish. The SMTP server will be relay.plus.net. The Port
should be 25. Leave 'I need to log in' unselected. Under Mail logs
(radio button below Account) select 'Detailed'. This will then give a
lot of info on the connection. Settings under Security and Addresses
    can be left blank.

The logs can be found in !NetFetch.Apps.!Hermes.Logs, the logs being
named after the account ids (found at top right of the account edit
    dialogue, e.g. Fetch0003 or Send0002.

If you need more help let us know. The detailed logs should help.

    Plusnet help at https://www.plus.net/help/email-guides/how-to-set-up-plusnet-email/
gives a recommendation of port 587 with StartTLS, or SSL/TLS with port
465 (which I use). This enables encryption. Note also the
user/password is needed to send from a non-Plusnet connection.

Leave 'I need to log in' unselected. Under Mail

Yes they were doing a major review after the big outage in their data

Its becoming less common for an ISP to provide email nowadays.
