• Iris & cookies

From Chris Newman@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 18 14:08:06 2021
    Hi,

Apologies if this arrives twice. Twisted knickers syndrome.

Anyone know how to clear cookies in the Iris browser? I've had a search
around the menus but it's not immediately obvious to me.

    There is a cookies/txt file in !Boot.Choices.WWW.Iris

I just closed Iris, deleted the file and restarted Iris. Iris created a
new one without complaint, but when I opened the cookie file I noticed it contained the following:-

    "# HTTP Cookie File
    # http://www.netscape.com/newsref/std/cookie_spec.html
    # This is a generated file! Do not edit.
    # To delete cookies, use the Cookie Manager."

    I couldn't find a cookie manager

There is as yet no menu option for Cookies.

But they are stored at: !Boot.Choices.WWW.Iris.cookies/txt

Its just a plain text file.

Well mine does not have that heading. Just copy it and rename it. and then create and empty cookies/txt file. Ensure iris is not running when you do
    it.

Just out of interest, are you using Iris 1.016 (uploaded 15 October)?

No. 1.010 (4-April-2021). I bought it from the !Store so I'm not on the
    early adopters regime.

I just looked on the !Store and OBrowser/ Iris Beta says version 1.03 but
has the same date as mine.

Have the log in credentials changed? Just tried to log in using Netsurf as Otter would not run and Iris would not take the whole password, I got
"The credentials for the site www.riscosdev.com and realm "Private access only." were rejected"

Just managed to log in via windows and it still only shows a version dated April 2021. I did not down load it to see if it was miss labelled and
    really an October version.

You need to be using Iris - Netsurf has never been able to login to
    the upgrade pages.

You need to be using Iris - Netsurf has never been able to login to

As I said Iris would not accept the whole password, it reverted to a blank
form after after a couple of characters. I got in via windows, and I
eventually got in with Netsurf, it went in as I deleted the password, all
    very odd.

Anyway it is still the April version that is available. I gather from
Andrew that the October release is a version out with the ROD shareholders
with a view to it going on general release before the London Show at the
    end of the month.

Which group of users are you in (the url may vary)? The latest
version is probably only for the select few early testers.

I just edit cookies/txt and delete all the text. I haven't had any
problems doing it when Iris is running (but not during a session with a
site that might depend on cookies). It would be easy enough to write an
obey file to delete cookies/txt and copy a null file into its place. Iris
does not appear to write back the cookies file when it quits.
