• RISCOSbits at the SouthWest Show

From RISCOSbits@21:1/5 to All on Wed Feb 19 23:54:20 2020
RISCOSbits will be attending the RISC OS Southwest show at the Arnos Manor Hotel on the 22nd February 2020.

We will have a range of new products available, as well as lots of our old favourites, and some with facelifts and extended capabilities!

    ARMbook Skins:
We will have a new range of protective vinyl skins to keep your ARMbook
safe from everyday scratches and markings. These include a limited edition white carbon effect skin or the standard clear matte vinyl skin. Both come
with ARMbook branding stickers and we'll have some stickers to give away on
    the day!

Come and talk to us about what skin designs you'd like to see in future.

    si.zeRO MAX:
Another addition to the si.zeRO range the si.zeRO Max provides a 32GB hard drive integrated into a tiny form factor with a 1.4GHz processor and 1 GB
of RAM. Subject to the Pi Foundation's future plans, it may even be user-upgradeable in future, to include faster processors, bigger drives and additional RAM.

    PiPOD ShareUSB:
Add the USB drives that you've always wanted to your RiscPC without the
need for buying expensive and functionally limited podules.

As one of our more mature products the PiPOD has been given a further boost
to its software capabilities, to allow the sharing of USB drives with the
host machine and any others on the network via an automated process.

ShareUSB will be free to download for existing owners of the PiPOD and will come as a downloadable option with new purchases. It may be available on
    the day, too.

    Oak Deuce:
In homage to Acorn of old, the Deuce case, designed especially for the Wandboard Quad or a Raspberry Pi hard drive kit, has been given a more
organic, customisable and sustainable fascia, and now includes an oak-based model. These will be available to take away on the day.

We will also have a limited run of very lightly used ARMbook Laptop
Essentials kits at a bargain price. The 1080p RISC OS laptop includes
access to R-Comp's Support Scheme, rugged carry case, a USB charger cable,
four port USB hub, and Ethernet adaptor.

Other portables available on the day will include Pi-Tops, Pi-Top 2s
(including a very limited edition clear version!) and a very rare UK
    LapDock Zero.

There will be several pre-built Desktop machines to take away on the day, including the si.zeRO, Pi-Hard and a complete RISC OS Starter Kit with everything you need to get going.

Accessories and add-ons available will include the PiPOD, WispyV wireless bridges and a vast array of cases to suit any RISC OS development board around.

For storage needs, there will be a number of different capacity OS SD
cards, PiSSDup adaptors and even filecore formatted mSATA drives.

We hope to see you on the day, and you can pick up your free RISC OS sticker!

  • From info@riscosbits.co.uk@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 23 21:42:40 2023
RISCOSbits are excited to be attending the FAST-approaching SouthWest
Show - the first since 2020, with some new, and some more familiar
    items.

Firstly, we will have limited stock of the Desktop Dock for RISC OS
laptops. The reason the stock is limited is, while the device itself
isn't huge, the retail packaging is. For this reason, if you're
interested in the dock, come to our stand as soon as you can.

This clever hardware device turns your RISC OS laptop into a desktop
computer with a single connection cable, so not only can use your laptop
on a full HD external monitor, you can attach your favourite keyboard
and mouse, and any external USB drives and peripherals normally
associated with desktop machines, such as printers and scanners. In
addition, it enables ethernet support on your laptop, even if it's not
built in. USB audio in and out (for recording and playback) is also
supported. It can even slows the discharge rate of your Pinebook Pro
battery when in use, and will fully charge it when the Pinebook Pro is
    turned off.

The Dock has been tested extensively with the Pinebook, Pi-Top v2, and
by a number of beta testers who can confirm it works with a Pinebook
Pro. We've borrowed one for the day so we can show off the Desktop Dock
    in all it's glory.

There have already been several revisions of the software to enable
better use of an external monitor, but more functional software is in development. We've managed to add screen blanking, and better resolution selection, but have even more plans.

The package includes everything you need to connect up your device, plus
a RISC OS manual, and all for just £45 on the day.

Secondly, we'll be bringing along AND SELLING a limited number of our
brand new device, which we will demonstrate for you and tell you more
about on the day if you come over for a chat. As a clue, when in
development, the project was called RISC OS FAST, and it really is - so
much so that we kept the name. Intrigued? Come and see for yourself what
RISC OS FAST is all about!

Our third new development, related to RISC OS FAST, is ideal if you're
the proud but neglected owner of a Compute Module 4 Lite. You'll want to
come over and see us straight away if you want to get the full potential
from that little piece of Pi. We have limited stock of this little hardware-and-software combination, so make a FAST dash to our stand to
get your mitts on one. You won't regret it.

More announcements on both of the RISC OS FAST projects will appear
throughout the day, hopefully including a review of the first product
we're selling to use RISC OS FAST on IconBar, and more explanation of
the overall RISC OS FAST project from Riscository. Keep your eyes peeled
on the Internet, or pick up a leaflet from the stand.

We'll also have our relatively new FHANTom software-controllable Fan HAT
for RISC OS. Utilising our fan control technology from the FOURtress,
this cheap and cheerful HAT has three speed operation to keep you Pi as
cool as a cucumber, if you can remember what they are.

In addition to our newer developments, we will have stock of our other
systems, including the Pi Harder, FOURtress and PiRO Noir, all at
special show prices. We know the availability of Pi 4s is low but we've
still managed to make some savings so those attending the show can take advantage of our usual special offers. Budgets are tight for everyone so
we've done what we can to reduce the costs as much as possible. So grab yourself a Pi-based bargain - our most expensive Pi 4-based system will
be LESS THAN £200 to take away, and our cheapest a mere £99. That's
right, ONLY £99 for a fully operational RISC OS system. Even with Pi 4
boards at the prices they are.

We'll also have a selection of cases for you to buy, including, but not
limited to, glass-effect cases for the Pi, wooden multimedia system
cases with front USB ports, and black and white frosted cases with a
glow that wouldn't look out of place in Barry Noble's Roxy!

Other items for sale on the day will include our EDOS USB and EDO/SD
dual boot RISC OS/Linux systems for the Raspberry Pi 4. Both allow quick
and easy transition between RISC OS and Linux at the click of an app,
and utilise clever partitioning of the drives to allow files to be
shared easily between the two. Again, at specially reduced show prices.

In our usual style, our show prices continue while our show stocks last,
so even if you can't make it on the day, give us a shout and we may
still have the odd bargain left.

If you do come along, pop over, have a chat, pick up a bargain, and be surprised by just how FAST things can be!
