Dear all,
It's a pleasure to announce the immediate availability of version 3.00 of
!GoL - the Game of Life for RISC OS.
Version 3.00 definitely is a step forward towards maturity. A grid as large
as 2,000 x 2,000 squares can now be zoomed in and out, which is made
possible by a smooth scroll implementation. There's no speed penalty: a different approach enables a massive speed increase, no matter how large
the grid is.
Here's a short list of some of the improvements:
- RLE file format is implemented and is now the native format.
- Extended keyboard control, most operations work on the fly.
- Speed regulation.
- Scroll wheel support, for scrolling, zooming in and out, and speed
control.
- Embedded comments get displayed in a separate pane.
- Continuous painting and deleting of cells.
- Better memory control.
And last but not least: nearly 3,000 (!) of predefined shapes, many of
which are really stunning, such as the so-called Turing Machine.
Because of this, the zip file is 5.7 Mb.
