RISC OS Developments (ROD) is pleased to announce that we have extended
the scope of our alpha/beta program for the new Iris HTML5/Javascript Web Browser project. Now, everyone who has supported ROD by donating for the OBrowser CD can access the beta version of Iris.
We hope that this expansion of access to the beta versions will allow the browser to receive greater testing, ahead of a future release version.
There is still a long way to go, and the browser has many rough edges, but
we think users will find that even in this beta state, it represents a significant step forwards for RISC OS.
If you haven't already investigated OBrowser, it is now available on
!Store - look in your Apps folder, or go to
http://www.plingstore.org.uk/
to download. It (OBrowser) exists as a way for people to donate to RISC
OS Developments' work on a more affordable budget. Obrowser itself is
useful in its own right, and by way of thanks for your contribution to ROD funds, we extend the offer of beta-testing Iris.
Iris provides a Javascript+HTML5+CSS+SSL experience on RISC OS, unlocking
much of the modern web. It was demonstrated at the Virtual Wakefield Show
this weekend accessing sites like Google Maps, Google Docs Office Suite,
Amazon and more.
Best wishes,
Andrew
