• IcnClipBrd 0.20 and Clipper 0.30 Released

From Steve Fryatt@21:1/5 to All on Sat Aug 29 15:28:45 2020
A little like buses, it seems that updates to clipboard utilities don't come alone -- and I'm pleased to announce that there are new versions of both IcnClipBrd and Clipper available to download.

    IcnClipBrd 0.20
    ---------------

With the arrival of cut and paste in writeable icons on RISC OS 5, the point
of IcnClipBrd has become a little more questionable. It's main purpose has always been to provide global clipboard support in writeable icons on the desktop... a task that the Wimp now does much better by itself.

Fortunately, IcnClipBrd has other uses, too. It can swap the case of
characters in icons (using the standard Ctrl-S shortcut by default), insert
the current date and time, and also manipulate DOS-style filenames in save dialogues. In order to make it co-exist more effectively with other applications, version 0.20 can configure the keys used for any of the
actions. Would you prefer Ctrl-D to insert the date? Now it's no problem. Individual actions can still be configured on or off as before.

The new version of IcnClipBrd is now available to download from my website
    at

It's also available on PlingStore and in the ROOL Third Party PackMan repository. Existing users are encouraged to read the upgrade notes if they have previously changed the default actions of the module.

    Clipper 0.30
    ------------

Following on from its overhaul in June, Clipper has few more improvements.
It provides a simple window on to the global clipboard: the current content
is shown as a file icon (which reflects how RISC OS sees it internally), and can be saved to disc in the usual drag-and-drop way. In addition, the
content of files from disc can be placed on the clipboard by dragging them
    into Clipper's window.

With the release of version 0.30, Clipper can insert the clipboard content
at the caret, which is useful for applications that don't support pasting
text more conventionally. It's also more tolerant of applications which
don't implement the clipboard to the letter of the specification.

Version 0.30 of Clipper is now available to download from my website at

    http://www.stevefryatt.org.uk/software/clipboard/

It's also available on PlingStore and in the ROOL Third Party PackMan repository.
