This is, AFAIK, less a technical accomplishment and more a business
one. Apple has been notoriously reluctant to allow VMs and emulator
programs on their storefront.
(Or they were. I haven't really been following IOS store shenanigans
too closely in recent years).
But there really wasn't anything /technically/ preventing ScummVM from
getting onto iOS, and the ScummVM developers have been quite happy to
port it to pretty much every platform (it's been on Android for what
seems a dog's age) so it's really APPLE and not the developers who
have allowed this change.
But Apple is notoriously finicky about what apps are allowed on their
platform, and it wouldn't surprise me if they reverse their decision
in a few weeks.
(and technically, it isn't on the Apple store yet. It's only currently available as a test version that uses Apple's TestFlight app.)
In other words, I'm not going to celebrate this accomplishment
immediately. Maybe in a year or three when it has become fait
accompli.
