And it's not a half-assed remaster too. It's a from-the-ground-up
visual recreation that, essentially, runs on top of the original game
code. So you get the best of both worlds: the same gameplay, monsters,
amps (and ruthless difficulty) of the original, combined with modern >amenities like mouse controls and graphics and sound that aren't an
affront to the senses.
It's still in early access, but apparently you can start playing it
already on GOG or Steam. *
This seems a truer follow-up to the classic series than that other
"Wizardry" game that came up in discussion a few weeks ago. So fans of
the franchise will probably be quite excited about it. Heck, you can
even pull up the original Apple ][ visuals at any time, if you want.
Personally, I think this game will be pretty niche, with most sales
coming out of nostalgia rather than a real desire to play Wizardry. >Nonetheless I wish the developers success... Even if I do have my
usual qualms about publishers constantly dipping back to the well to >re-release the old rather than creating something new...
