• Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

This doesn't really excite /me/ that much, but I know the game has
    fans here, so...

They're making a remaster of the original Wizardry game.
    (trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbKpViQdyR4)

    And it's not a half-assed remaster too. It's a from-the-ground-up
visual recreation that, essentially, runs on top of the original game
code. So you get the best of both worlds: the same gameplay, monsters,
amps (and ruthless difficulty) of the original, combined with modern
amenities like mouse controls and graphics and sound that aren't an
    affront to the senses.

It's still in early access, but apparently you can start playing it
already on GOG or Steam. *

This seems a truer follow-up to the classic series than that other
"Wizardry" game that came up in discussion a few weeks ago. So fans of
the franchise will probably be quite excited about it. Heck, you can
even pull up the original Apple ][ visuals at any time, if you want.

Personally, I think this game will be pretty niche, with most sales
coming out of nostalgia rather than a real desire to play Wizardry.
Nonetheless I wish the developers success... Even if I do have my
usual qualms about publishers constantly dipping back to the well to
re-release the old rather than creating something new...

Not the dungeon crawler I would have chosen to remaster. I played
through Wizardry 1-5 awhile back and completed them (minus the fourth
entry as it is a very different game which I could not get into) and I
did enjoy them but I really have no desire to play them ever again.
However, this remaster may rekindle my interest in the very early
    Wizardries, it may not.

Thank you for the link Spalls. I will be watching the progress on this
    one.
