• Prime Gaming: Week of 29 July 2023

    From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 29 09:10:31 2023
    I think I skipped a week announcing these games. But we didn't really
    miss out on anything because there are only two new games on Amazon
    Prime Gaming since last time I posted an update.

    * Wytchwood
    A "crafting adventure game set in a land of gothic fables and
    fairytales," is how it describes itself. With a top-down viewpoint and "storybook art style" it is very reminiscent of old-school RPGs,
    except the game's primary goal doesn't seem to be to Save The World
    (tm) but instead... to craft? Frankly, I tired of all these crafting
    mechanics over a decade ago, but if its still your thing - and you can
    dig the family-friendly vibe of the game - maybe give this one a try.

    * Lunar Axe
    This game is on Amazon's Luna service. Looks like another hidden-item pixel-hunt game.

    So, not a great outing this time, but we're coming to the start of a
    new month, and that's usually when Amazon puts out the good stuff. It
    makes you wonder why they've bothered with a weekly schedule if
    there's no real point to checking in more than once a month?

    Oh well, it gives me a reason to post on Usenet.

    Not off to a great start for the month but it picks up later for me with
    two, maybe three, games that I'll claim. That justifies my subscription
    for the month and last month I got lucky as I needed to get a new frying
    pan and got one in one of those Prime one day specials at half price.
