• Prime Gaming Week of 2003-7-7

From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jul 7 09:11:02 2023
Well, as far as games go, it's not a very exciting week on Amazon
Prime, but no sense being snobbish when there's free* games on the
    line.

    This week, we get:

    - Shovel Knight Showdown
Another action platformer. The "Shovel Knight" games are generally well-regarded, but you have to be a fan of this sort of old-school
games. Myself, I played this sort of game in the 80s and - while I had
fun back then - don't really see a need to revisit the genre (and
visuals) when there are better games available. But that's just a
matter of preference and not a judgment on the game itself. Which is
    fine, I guess.

    - Cook, Serve, Delicious 3
I'm less sanguine about the CSD games, which I never thought were all
that good to begin with, and CSD3 is probably the weakest of the
three, confusing complexity with depth. Meh.

Remember: free is free, and The Number must go up!

Same here, not really into the platformers usually, I played one I should
post about that really got me a few days ago. I'll pick it up, and I'll probably give it a short go if I remember. I was always a fan of using
    a shovel as a weapon.

    Double Meh,

    Thanks for the reminder!

I'd mention the Luna games, but they're either the same as last month
    or shovelware.

Remind me never to come visit your garden. ;-)

    Double Meh,

Especially since CSD3 is one of those games that has already made the
rounds on the freebie circuit, so interested gamers likely have a copy
    or three already.

    You'll only visit once. ;)

Like at the list for July it looks rather underwhelming.
