• Prime Gaming: June 22 2023

    From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 22 11:21:41 2023
    Still not free games, but games nonetheless.
    This week's game's on Amazon Prime are:

    * Prey (2017)
    The acclaimed Arkane Studios sandbox; explore an abandoned
    space-station and fight off shape-changing aliens. I know everybody
    else loves it, but the game always left me cold. But it's free and
    Amazon makes it available through GOG.

    * Lila's Sky Ark
    You'll need Amazon's 'Legacy Games' client for this one. Looks like a retro-graphic'd top-down action adventure. I'll pass.

    Not a lot this week, but if it makes the library grow, I'll not
    complain too much. More games are always welcome.

    They seem to be hiding things now, I had to poke around a lot to find
    Prey. It's a GOG code, so actually better than the ones tied to amazon.

    I also saw Force Unleashed is coming soon. I already have it, but it
    was a good game.

    I saw Revita was there, got it and tried as I'm in the mood to try out some small games. Dash isn't working though. I tested my controller at https://gamepad-tester.com/ to be sure and everything is working on it.

    Of less interest
    Monster Harvest - farming for monsters or something?
    Steamworld Heist - o.k. indy lowbit platformer
    Fortnight (wtf, it's free anyway, well I guess the streaming version if you have a
    potato that isn't up to the job.)

    I tried this for awhile. I liked it better than the 1st in this series, but I still
    lost interest after a couple days. I'm not sure what it is, these games
    seem fine, I've just got no interest to play them. Part of it might
    be the streaming, as it would freeze up a second or so at a time every
    now and again. I'm a bit far from my wifi router, but it's odd I don't have more problems with other games, other than streaming ones. Also even
    more oddly is while the game gave me nightmares, usually if that happens
    I'm all in. Part of it just might be the 'free' bit, humans attach less value to things that cost less, and it seems I'm affected by that.

    Citizen Sleeper - cyberpunk ttrpg knockoff video game, looks interesting.

    I briefly tried this, it seems more like something that would be good on
    the phone, which turns me off. It uses some sort of die or pip mechanic
    and turns doing actions like salvaging or scrapping while trying to keep
    fed and sane, the text blocks seem to be creative at least as far as I got.
