• FREE GAME: Warhammer 40K: Gladius

From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Thu Mar 16 11:00:59 2023
Oy, my aching back! Hauling all these free games up from the cellar is
a right pain. But I'm happy to do it; you won't hear me complaining
about all the work and effort I put into this every week. No sir, not
me. Just come take these freebies, it's what I'm here for. ;-)

    This week you get:

    * Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/warhammer-40000-gladius-relics-of-war Here's the six-word elevator pitch: "It's Civilization crossed with
Warhammer 40K". You want space marines and orcs and Eldar and
4X-strategy gameplay? That's Gladius. You want lots and lots of
content hidden behind DLC paywalls? That's Gladius too. The gameplay
itself is satisfactory - it's not the greatest of 4X games, but its
fun enough, especially if you like the WH40K franchise. The various
factions feel distinct from one another, if not particularly well
balanced. It's light on some features and combat heavy, but then
again... it's Warhammer, so what do you expect (who needs diplomacy
anyway?). But that DLC is outrageous.

It's free, but even at that price is it worth grabbing? You have seven
days to decide (and I have seven days to ice my back).

Well... I'm not much for strategy games, nor really Warhammer, though
I like the lore and look. I like a few of each, so I picked it up on the
off chance I'll be in the mood some day.

Thanks for the reminder as usual! Though I had just looked yesterday
and saw it was coming up, and intended to get it, I probably would've
    forgot.

Ha! GOG.com just sent me on of their "special price" emails for this
exact game today. Do you think they bothered to look at Epic's site?

If it is free it is worth grabbing. It may just be not worth playing.

    This is the correct answer.
