That would have cost 2,240 if you bought them at full price. Most games
are "worth" nowhere near what companies want to charge for them.

Same for buying them and never finishing or even playing them. :P

Good question and my answer would be that like everything what something
worth is how much you'd be prepared to pay for it!

So if I look at my collection of free games I gathered from Amazon Prime
it's probably something like £70 or so of 'worth'.

Since they aren't actually listed either of those places, you can check
here to see what was given away:

Good question and my answer would be that like everything what something worth is how much you'd be prepared to pay for it!

I was going to say that's a good metric, but the two games I enjoyed I wouldn't have bought, as they're both games in genres I generally don't enjoy. So $0. As a retroactive value after playing them I'd put both somewhere around $5-10.
    Evil Dead & Sable.

There were a number of games there I did pay for, but as I already had them they
were $0 at the time they were given away free.

So total value to me is at a max of $20.

Looking back at previous years -

    2021:
Mutant Year Zero - I actually played this a bit, and had it on my wishlist a good
    while. I'll give it $20.

Stubs the Zombie - I think I had this on my wishlist. $2, though disappointing
due to bug that wouldn't let me progress very far.

Void Bastards - Another one that looked like something I'd buy $2, again
very disappointing, and I'd give it $0 in retrospect.

Frostpunk - On my wishlist, I might have paid $10, on the other hand I never got around to playing it after I got it free.

Rage 2 - o.k. this is a big one, I enjoyed it and played it, and probably would've
bought it around $30. Rage 1 while I enjoyed felt very short and wouldn't have
paid full price. Rage 2 is longer at least.

    So $64

    2020:
Elite Dangerous - I would eventually have bought this... probably. I'll give it
$30. I played it only briefly and found I just don't have the patience for this
    these days.

Dungeons 3 - I did play this probably more than halfway, I'm not sure I would've bought it, but I'll give it a retroactive $20.

Kingdom: New Lands - great Indy game, but realistically I probably wouldn't have paid more than $5.

GTA 5 - I did own in on xbox, but had contemplated getting it on PC I'll put it at $30.

Aztez - good Indy game, still I can't see having paid more than $2. Another
I probably wouldn't have discovered without getting it free though.

    So $ 87

Not bad for free. I feel a bit more good will toward Epic after reviewing. Their client is still shit though, and just wading through my games to find what I might want to play is a nightmare that makes it almost not worth it.

The value is perhaps a bit more as the great thing about giveaways
is you get to try game you never would've bought, and find some gems
    expanding your horizons.

I see a whole bunch of games I really need to give a try. Part of the problem with free games is I have nothing invested into them, and much
like wine, the price often reflects what the consumer will think of them, enjoying a $200 bottle of wine more than a $20 one even if they're the
    exact same.

Oh very much agree as one of the things I like about Amazon Prime it I
get to try out games that I wouldn't have otherwise because either I'd
never even heard of them or just wasn't sure I'd like them. Then there's
the occasional on my Steam wishlist but haven't got around to buying
    them yet.

I'm always in two minds about this as if it's free then you don't take
your biases into it but it can also mean you don't put a bit of effort
in to get into a game.

There is a flipside I feel, you dislike a game more than you should as
you paid good money for it. The original Bioshock definitely falls into
that category for me. I paid how much for a game that's basically a FPS
in a different environment. What happened to all those really
interesting mechanics in your gameplay trailer!

Wait, wait... Epic has been giving away free games? Why haven't there
been any announcements about it in this newsgroup? Think of all the
games I could have added to my video-game library! ;-)

81 games, btw. That's how many I snagged. You know, in case anyone was wondering. It would have been higher but there were a number of
duplicates last year (those cheap bastards at Epic, how dare they
offer duplicate free games ;-). The scary thing is those additions
don't come close to being the majority of all the new games added to
my library last year. <sigh> Maybe I do have a video-game hoarding
    problem? ;-)
