I played BDO a while back on a free weekend. It was pretty.

Black Desert is already in my Steam library but the other one isn't.
    Thank you Ant.

If anyone has any questions about Black Desert, I have an obscene amount
of hours played in, though most of that is AFK.

It's a grindy Korean MMORPG, but as Zaghadka said, it has pretty graphics.
It's also one of the most generous MMOs in terms of freebies, and because
of their 7th Anniversary event the daily logon awards are particularly
    good at the moment.

"Black Desert" looked interest... right until the part where I read it
was an MMORPG. I've yet to play a modern MMORPG that's worth my time.
But it sure has purty graphics.

(Also, Black Desert says it's "Free to Keep... until March 8th 10AM.
So after that they start charging you? Dump you into the 'freebie
    zone'? Dunno.)

"Figment" is... different. It's feels a lot like"Bastion" crossed with "Psychonauts". I don't want to call it a mobile game, because a) it's
not really* and b) calling it that gives people certain assumptions
about the quality of its gameplay... but it /feels/ a little bit like
a mobile game. It's the... I dunno... the smallness of the game? Maybe
its immediacy? It felt like something you could pick up and put down
at any time rather than something that required you to invest an hour
or three of your life each time you wanted to play it. And that's not necessarily a bad thing - in some ways it added to "Figment's" charm,
but it might be a turn off to some.

Anyway, I skipped the first and already had the second, so no benefit
to me. But I got to talk about games, and that's good enough. Thanks
    for the heads up, Ant.

    * checking Mobygames, it apparently released simultaneously on mobile platforms, but it didn't originate there.

It's completely free after that. There's no monthly subscription fee,
no restrictions on what you can do. There are of course lots of things
can spend cash on, but it's not the sort of game that's always asking
you money. Instead they're actually pretty generous with giving out
stuff for free that normally costs real money.

It will be a pass for me as I just don't want to get sucked into another
'games as a service'. Of course each to their own!

When I think about mobile games it's really those that follow a certain financial model (yes that means lots of MTX) and not it's a game that
just happens to be on a mobile device. Indeed there are games where the
UI is nicer and/or it suits the more casual you don't have to think to
    hard nor play that long.
