Yes, you'll have to sign up for the EA Pro $15 monthly service, but it's not hard to unsubscribe:

I'm considering this myself, after balking at $60 full price. I believe the regular EA Play (free via multiple services) might allow 10hours access to
the game also, but not sure about that. If so, that could be the best
    option

Oops! Not true, you'll have to join EA Pro to have access to the remake.

I've not really seen anything about the remake that makes me think
that - aside from the updated visuals* - its going to be any different
from playing the first one. Which I already own and don't have to wait
    to play.

So my excitement about this remake is minimal, and the likelihood that
it will get me to pay for a subscription service practically
    non-existent. ;-)

    * honestly, as a whole I think I enjoyed the original's visuals more.
Sure, on a technical level the remake is superior but the increased
'realism' of the new game's appearance doesn't have the same
foreboding atmosphere as its originator. But YMMV.

This preview seems impressed by what changes there are https://www.ign.com/articles/dead-space-remake-the-final-preview
but as a dead space superfan, I don't think I can keep my hands off this....

Oh, I'm sure I'll pick this one eventually -- if only to do a
comparison between old and new - but it doesn't really invite me to
rush out and get it (certainly not the upgradeable weapons feature the
reviewer was gushing over, which is a feature I'd happily see die in
action games). Plus, I have no faith in EA keeping its greedy 'live
services / MTX' mitts off the game, but that's something we'll only
learn about after its actually released.

But I always liked the second game more than the first. Things might
be different if this were a Dead Space 2 remake.

Honestly, if a remake had to be made, I wish they'd taken a look at
the various spin-off games (like "Dead Space Extraction") since those
never came to PC. I had one for the iPad and never finished it
(because touch-screen controls) and wish I could have played it with a
    better interface.

I quit preordering games years ago but I really hope the reviews are
    good for this one.

The original was one of my favorite games of all time. Scared the you
    know what out of me!
