"The Long Dark" was one of the earlier open-world survival games,
created, but don't assume that means its inferior to its newer peers.
The game IYYLA has seen continual development over the past five
years. It has a good sense of place and atmosphere, and the addition
of an overarching story mode has added much needed motivation to its >procedurally generated worlds. Still it is, in the end, just an
open-world WIFYQsurvival game, which does limit its appeal. But if you
gotta play something from that genre, "The Long Dark" isn't the9568N
    worst game to pick.

Oh good, the clamour has subsided somewhat. I'm gonna take a nap.

    Hoddey-hoddey-ho!

I think I will pass on this one assuming it isn't already claimed.

Why, is it that time of day again? Time for yet another give-away?
Well, if my well-gnawed ankles are anything to go by, the answer is a definitive "yes!" 'Tis the season, and besides, the crowd is
clamouring. Listen to that clamour, can you hear it? I can! So here's
    another game!

I took it since it has high ratings and might be interesting to play! Thanks Spalls. ;)

I noticed the high ratings as well but I really don't think I would
like it. I am surprised you were able to grab it. I figured it was
gone even by the time I saw it.

I'm trying to spread around the release times to try to give everybody
a better chance of getting a game (and maybe to make it a bit more
fun?), but maybe I should just focus on a specific time (say, 5pm
GMT?) if you all think that might make it fairer.

Still, while Ant is definitely in the lead (7 games claimed, MikeS has
3, Zaghadka has 2, JAB and Justisaur have 1 each), I'm not really
upset at how it's all turning out. The 'game' is still in the air as
to who collects the most, and there are a lot of unclaimed titles
already available (and more to come!). I certainly don't want to
discourage anyone or make them second guess their claim. If you see a
game you like, please grab it.

Personally, I like the mad scramble and it does seem to promote
increased activity in the newsgroup (which has always been the stated
goal of these give-aways) so I'm fine with it staying the way it is,
but if you all want a change, I'll be happy to adapt. This is supposed
to be /fun/, not stressful; we get enough of the latter during this
    season already.

Note that even if I were to go to a 'specific time' there would still
be some variability, since 'I never learned nuthin' 'bout no
punctuality'. But it wouldn't be a 12 hour spread like it is now.
