From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Tue Dec 20 10:48:35 2022
Just goes to show you; moose bites (or even nuzzles) /can/ be nasti.
They're filled with germs and those'll lay out flat before you know
what hits you. It's a good thing this channel has moved on to nice,
    clean, /sanitary/ beavants.

Want a game? Have a game!

    -----------------------------

    * Call of Juarez: Gunslinger https://store.steampowered.com/app/204450/Call_of_Juarez_Gunslinger/
The Juarez franchise has been a mixed bag; the original was an average
shooter that poorly utilized its massive, open world; the second was mechanically sound but2046N lacked originality, and the third decided
to say 'fuck it' to the whole western thing and moved the series 100
years into the future. "Gunslinger" takes the franchise back to when
the series belongs - the era of the Wild Wild West - and gives you an unreliable narrator XQDW8 as the game's framing device to explain some
of the more egregious departures from reality. It's a solid - if not
too original - title that promises wild-RKWIF-west action, and
delivers that. Don't go into it expecting some revelatory experience,
but if you like sixshooters and cowboy hats, this is a game for you.

    -----------------------------

Still coughing, but the beavants say I'll get over that soon if I keep
away from mooses. I've trust in 'em; everybody knows beavants are
    skilled medical practicioners.

    Ho-cough-ho-ho!

We all have. I doubt anyone here really knows what games are in their
    various game libraries.

Speak for yourself. /I/ have a spreadsheet ;-)

(Although that was largely because of the problem mentioned. I'd go
into a shoppe - remember when that was how you used to buy video
games? - and end up buying duplicates to games I already owned. It
happened so often that I created a list that detailed every game I
owned. I carried it on a portable device - back then, it was a Palm
Pilot, to give you an idea of how long ago this was - to reference
    whenever I went shopping.

(Wiser souls might have said, "Maybe be a bit less impulsive and
wasteful with your purchases", but that sort of attitude doesn't leave
you with thousands upon thousands of video games, now does it? The
list was more suited to my particular - peculiar? - method.

(That list is still in use today, not only as a reference for what
games I own but also when I acquired them - so if you're wondering how
I know that "Wolfenstein: New Order" was offered as a freebie on Epic
on 2 June 2022, wonder no more! - as well as play-dates and personal
review scores. Because if there's one thing a Spalls Hurgenson likes
more than rambling on Usenet, it is an overly long and unnecessarily
    detailed list!)

So while many criticisms may be levelled at me, if there's one thing
    that /can't/ be said, it's that I don't know what games I own. ;-)

I should do that too, but I'm lazy!

It seems like a good idea but is there any way of getting a dump of
owned games from the usual stores? If I could just import the data to
a spreadsheet, fine. Typing in all games by hand and checking in which
stores I have each game, meh.

I already own this one from yet another Steam sale. I quite liked it as
it ditched any pretence of being a 'realistic' setting and went full
Hollywood wild west with all the tropes. As you say though it's not some
must have game but it is an enjoyable romp.

Sure. Yet somehow those combo launchers (like Playnite or whatever) do
get that information so probably there's an API for software. Might be
there are even tools to grab that data but I haven't Googled yet.

For Steam, the easiest way might be to go to your "Account Licenses"
    page (https://store.steampowered.com/account/history/ , obviously that
URL will personalize info for each individual user), hit "load more transactions" until everything gets shown, then copying everything to
a spreadsheet. That will show all the licensed products activated on
your account, regardless if they were bought at the Steam store,
purchased elsewhere (retail), or freebies (complimentary).
(note: it might be easier to do if you visit that page through the
    Steam client)

    GOG has a similar page
(https://www.gog.com/en/account/settings/orders) but it's not as easy
to pull info out of it using the ol' cut-n-paste method. Presumably
the other storefronts do too but I'm too lazy to go hunting for them
    all. ;-)

Certainly if I had to do it all over again, my spreadsheet would never
have been created. Even back in the day, it was a weeks-long process
with me manually typing in every game, and that was when my hoard was
a fraction of its current size. I can't imagine doing it now...
