    Me too!*

I'd use this date as a celebratory excuse to play another the
original** Doom again.... except I don't really need an excuse. Doom
is one of those evergreen games that never gets old (oddly enough, I
can't say the same for its sequel).

And in the rare instance you /do/ tire of Doom, the engine has proven
to be so adaptable that the thousands of mods - which transform the
game into almost a game of any genre you could imagine - will breath
    new life into the experience.

So I can't get too excited about this newest anniversary because - for
me - it's never really left my life. For me, there's really not much
difference between day 10,591 and 10,592... it's just another day to
    play Doom ;-)

to how long it takes the Earth to go around its sun
** Well, technically a Source port of the first game with a bunch of
additional mods... but the original .WAD files are still being used so
    it still counts, right?

    Not my video, but...

... it sort of proves my point. Pick a genre, any genre, and Doom's
got you covered. Open-world games (Doom Free Room), RPGs (DoomRPG,
natch), racing game (Sonic Roboblast 2 Kart), flight sim (OZ Vision),
even dating sims (Doomed Love). Doom does it all.

Worth a look to see some of the oddities made with or for Doom.
